St.John's-St.Margaret's Church

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone's welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes—you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation.

What is Alpha?

Each weekly session includes the screening of a video talk, followed by discussion in small groups. Participants are welcome to contribute their opinion, ask questions and discuss issues.

The Alpha course is open to anyone interested in exploring the meaning of life and discovering what the Christian faith is all about. It is a place where people gather to relax and share thoughts in a light-hearted, casual environment. At each session, people enjoy learning in a friendly atmosphere where no question about life and God is seen as too simple or too hostile...such as:

  • Why am I here? Where am I going?
  • Why is there so much suffering in life?
  • How do I cope with uncertainties in life?
Is there more to life than this?

WHO IS ALPHA FOR?

The course is designed primarily for people who are not church-goers, those who do attend church but feel they do not have a personal understanding of the Christian faith, and those who wish to brush up on the basics of Christianity.
