Objectives of Position
Lead the Human Resources function with integrity, care and sound stewardship, providing strategic and operational support that enables staff to serve effectively and advances the church’s mission and vision to reach a world in need of Christ.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- HR strategy and leadership: Develop HR plans and policies aligned with the church’s ministry, organisational and workforce needs.
- Governance, compliance and risk: Ensure compliance with employment laws and church policies. Manage HR risks, review policies and coordinate government submissions and surveys.
- Employee care and engagement: Provide appropriate pastoral care, guidance and HR support to staff; foster a respectful, healthy and collaborative workplace; and oversee the fair handling of workplace concerns and grievances.
- Talent acquisition and workforce planning: Lead manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding, role transitions, retirement and offboarding using fair, merit-based practices.
- Learning and development: Identify capability needs and coordinate training, development and succession initiatives to strengthen staff and leaders.
- Budget and vendor management: Manage the HR budget, approve authorised expenses and oversee service providers and contracts.
- HR systems & workflow: Ensure data is up to date for timely reporting and workforce insights to support decision-making. Oversee HR administration and operations to ensure they are carried out properly.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities
- Performance and employee relations: Guide supervisors on goals, performance, recognition, conduct and disciplinary matters. Ensure consistent processes and proper documentation.
- Team leadership and stakeholder partnership: Lead the HR team, partner with ministry and functional leaders, and represent staff at relevant committees and forums.
- Projects and church-wide support: Lead HR improvement projects, support church-wide initiatives and carry out other assigned duties.
Our Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in HR
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR
- Mature Christian with good management and communications skills.
- Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
- Counselling skill would be an advantage.
